About the treatment

Understanding Buccal Massage

What Is Buccal Massage?

Buccal Massage is a specialised facial massage combining external techniques across the face, jaw and neck with a hygienic intraoral technique performed inside the cheeks. It allows areas around the cheeks and jaw to be approached from both inside and outside the mouth.

How Does It Work?

After the external facial massage, fresh disposable gloves are used for the intraoral stage. Controlled pressure and massage movements are applied inside the cheeks while the supporting hand works externally, allowing the treatment to focus on areas of muscular tension and create a temporarily relaxed, refreshed and more defined-looking appearance.

Treatment benefits

Buccal Massage

Releases Areas of Facial Tension

Targeted massage across the cheeks, jaw and surrounding facial muscles can help these areas feel softer, calmer and more relaxed.

Provides Targeted Intraoral Massage

Working inside and outside the cheeks allows areas that are difficult to approach through external facial massage alone to receive controlled, focused attention.

Creates a More Defined-Looking Appearance

Massage movements can temporarily soften the appearance of facial tension and puffiness, helping the contours look fresher and more refined.

Supports Jaw and Facial Relaxation

The treatment encourages the client to become more aware of habitual facial tension, clenching and tightness while enjoying a slower, more relaxed experience.

Refreshes Tired-Looking Features

External massage and gentle sculpting movements can leave the face looking rested, refreshed and more awake immediately after the appointment.

Provides a Deeply Relaxing Experience

The personalised pace, pressure and repetitive massage movements create a calming facial ritual designed to support overall relaxation and wellbeing.

Personalised and considered

Suitability & Safety

Not all conditions that may affect treatment suitability are listed here. Your safety, skin health and long-term results will always come first.

Treatment may need to be adapted, postponed or declined if you have:

Active Oral Conditions or Infection

Treatment should be postponed if you have active cold sores, mouth ulcers, oral thrush, gum infection, a dental abscess, unexplained oral lesions or another infection affecting the mouth, lips or surrounding area.

Recent Dental Work or Oral Surgery

Recent dental extraction, implants, root-canal treatment, oral surgery, significant dental work, ongoing bleeding or unresolved swelling may require the appointment to be delayed until healing is complete and your dental professional is satisfied.

Acute Jaw Pain, Locking or Unexplained Symptoms

Severe or worsening jaw pain, restricted opening, jaw locking, facial swelling, toothache, unexplained numbness or suspected temporomandibular dysfunction should be assessed by a dentist, doctor or appropriately qualified healthcare professional before massage.

Recent Injectables, Facial Surgery or Advanced Treatments

Recent botulinum toxin, dermal fillers, threads, facial surgery, dental facial procedures or other treatments involving the face and jaw must be disclosed. Massage may need to be delayed until the treating practitioner confirms that pressure is appropriate.

Skin, Bleeding and Healing Considerations

Active acne, broken skin, inflammation, bruising, recent injury, bleeding disorders, blood-thinning medication, poor healing or significant sensitivity may require the pressure, treatment area or appointment to be adapted.

Pregnancy, Health Changes and Individual Comfort

Pregnancy or breastfeeding, allergies, medication, relevant medical conditions, previous reactions and any change in your health must be disclosed. The intraoral stage is optional and will not proceed without informed consent and continued comfort.

Your appointment

What to Expect

Consultation & Facial Assessment

Your goals, comfort preferences, medical and dental history, medication, recent treatments and any facial or jaw symptoms are reviewed. The treatment is adapted according to your individual needs and suitability.

External Facial Massage

The face, jawline and surrounding areas are massaged using controlled sculpting and releasing movements. Pressure is adjusted throughout according to your comfort and areas of tension.

Hygienic Intraoral Massage

Following hand hygiene, fresh disposable gloves are applied before the inside of each cheek is massaged using careful, controlled movements. One hand works inside the mouth while the other supports and massages externally.

Relax, Restore & Complete

The treatment returns to gentle external movements to settle the face and jaw. Suitable finishing products are applied where included, followed by personalised guidance based on your response.

After your appointment

Results & Recovery

Immediately After Treatment

The face may feel deeply relaxed, warm and more mobile immediately after the massage. The complexion may appear refreshed, and the contours may temporarily look softer or more defined.

During the Following Day

Mild muscular tenderness, facial sensitivity or temporary redness may occur, particularly where areas of significant tension received more focused pressure.

Visible and Sensory Results

The most noticeable effects are usually a relaxed facial feeling and a temporarily refreshed or more sculpted-looking appearance. Results vary according to facial structure, muscular tension and individual response.

Ongoing Treatment

Buccal Massage provides temporary cosmetic and relaxation benefits rather than permanent facial reshaping. It may be enjoyed occasionally or included within a personalised regular massage plan.

Supporting your skin

Post-Treatment Care

Allow the Face and Jaw to Settle

Your cheeks or jaw muscles may feel relaxed, warm or mildly tender after the treatment. Avoid repeatedly testing, stretching or clenching the jaw unnecessarily.

Avoid Additional Facial Pressure

Do not perform strong self-massage, use facial tools or book another intensive facial massage immediately afterwards unless specifically advised.

Keep Your Skincare Gentle

Use your normal gentle skincare routine and avoid applying irritating products to any area that feels temporarily sensitive following the external massage.

Stay Hydrated and Rested

Drink water according to your normal needs and allow time to enjoy the relaxed feeling created by the treatment. Avoid activities that noticeably increase facial or jaw tension where possible.

Follow Dental and Injectable Guidance

Continue to follow any instructions provided by your dentist, doctor or injectable practitioner. Their aftercare guidance takes priority over general massage advice.

Report Unexpected Symptoms

Contact HEXIE Beauty if you experience unexpected bruising, increasing pain or prolonged tenderness. Seek dental or medical advice for severe pain, facial swelling, difficulty opening the mouth or symptoms that suggest infection.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ's

What is buccal massage?

Buccal Massage is a specialised facial massage combining external movements across the face and jaw with an intraoral technique performed inside the cheeks. It is designed to focus on areas of facial tension and create a relaxed, refreshed and temporarily more defined-looking appearance.

What happens during the intraoral part of the treatment?

Fresh disposable gloves are applied before one side of the mouth is treated at a time. Controlled massage movements are performed inside the cheek while the other hand supports and works externally. The pressure is adapted continuously according to your comfort.

Is buccal massage hygienic?

Yes. Hand hygiene is completed and a fresh pair of disposable gloves is used for the intraoral stage of every appointment. The gloves are not reused, and the inside of the mouth is treated using controlled professional techniques.

Does buccal massage hurt?

The treatment should feel firm and focused rather than painful. Areas holding more tension may feel tender, particularly around the cheeks or jaw. Pressure is adjusted throughout, and the intraoral stage can be paused or stopped at any time.

Can buccal massage help with jaw tension?

Buccal Massage may help the facial and jaw muscles feel more relaxed temporarily. However, persistent pain, jaw locking, restricted movement, toothache or a diagnosed temporomandibular disorder requires assessment and treatment from an appropriate dental or healthcare professional.

Will buccal massage permanently slim or reshape my face?

No. Buccal Massage does not permanently remove facial fat, alter bone structure or reshape the face. Relaxation of muscular tension and the massage movements may create a temporarily fresher or more defined-looking appearance, but results vary.

Can I have buccal massage after dental treatment?

Recent dental work, extractions, implants, root-canal treatment or oral surgery must be disclosed. Your appointment may need to be delayed until swelling, bleeding and tenderness have resolved and your dental professional has confirmed that the area is healing appropriately.

Can I have buccal massage after Botox or dermal fillers?

Recent facial injectables must be disclosed before booking. The appointment may need to be delayed, and you should follow the timing and massage instructions provided by the practitioner who performed your injections.

Is there any downtime after buccal massage?

There is normally no formal downtime. Temporary redness, warmth, facial sensitivity or mild muscular tenderness may occur, particularly where tighter areas have received focused pressure.

How often should I have buccal massage?

Buccal Massage may be enjoyed as an individual treatment or included within a regular facial massage plan. The most suitable frequency depends on your goals, comfort, response and whether any dental, medical or injectable considerations affect treatment timing.
