About the treatment

Understanding Bacial

What Is a Bacial?

A Bacial is a professional facial treatment adapted specifically for the skin across the back. It combines thorough cleansing, controlled exfoliation, targeted decongesting care and hydration to improve the appearance of blemishes, blocked pores, dullness and rough or uneven texture.

How Does It Work?

Following consultation and assessment, the back is cleansed and prepared before suitable exfoliating products and techniques are selected. Where appropriate, selected surface congestion may be carefully addressed before a targeted mask, calming products, hydration and finishing care are applied.

Treatment benefits

Bacial

Deeply Cleanses Hard-to-Reach Skin

Thorough professional cleansing helps remove surface oil, perspiration, product residue and everyday build-up from an area that can be difficult to cleanse effectively at home.

Supports Clearer-Looking Back Skin

A personalised combination of cleansing, exfoliation and targeted products can help improve the appearance of mild congestion and blemish-prone skin.

Refines Congestion and Visible Pores

Controlled exfoliation helps lift surface build-up, while suitable decongesting care can leave blocked pores and blackheads looking cleaner and more refined.

Smooths Rough or Uneven Texture

Removing dull surface cells helps rough-feeling areas appear softer, smoother and more polished.

Improves the Appearance of Post-Blemish Marks

Regular personalised care can support a brighter and more even-looking back as existing superficial marks gradually fade.

Hydrates and Refreshes the Skin

Calming masks and moisturising products help restore comfort and leave the skin feeling softer, balanced and refreshed.

Personalised and considered

Suitability & Safety

Not all conditions that may affect treatment suitability are listed here. Your safety, skin health and long-term results will always come first.

Treatment may need to be adapted, postponed or declined if you have:

Active, Inflamed or Cystic Acne

Painful nodules, cysts, widespread inflamed breakouts or severe acne may require assessment and treatment from a GP or dermatologist rather than a cosmetic back facial.

Infection, Open Wounds or Sunburn

Treatment should be postponed where there is active infection, folliculitis, open or weeping skin, broken areas, significant scratching, recent burns or sunburn across the treatment area.

Active Skin Conditions or Significant Sensitivity

A flare of eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis or another inflammatory skin condition may make exfoliation, extractions or active products unsuitable until the skin has settled.

Medication and Active Skincare

Isotretinoin, prescription retinoids, antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide, exfoliating acids and other products or medication that affect sensitivity and healing must be disclosed before treatment.

Recent Hair Removal or Advanced Treatments

Recent waxing, laser hair removal, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, microneedling or another advanced procedure on the back may require the appointment to be delayed.

Healing, Allergies and Individual Considerations

A history of abnormal scarring, poor wound healing, uncontrolled medical conditions, product allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any recent health changes must be disclosed so that suitability and product selection can be assessed.

Your appointment

What to Expect

Consultation & Back Assessment

Your concerns, current body-care routine, medical history, medication, recent treatments and previous reactions are reviewed. The skin across your back is assessed so that the treatment can be personalised safely.

Cleanse & Prepare

The back is thoroughly cleansed to remove surface oil, perspiration and product residue. The most appropriate exfoliation and treatment products are selected according to your skin condition and tolerance.

Exfoliate, Decongest & Treat

Controlled exfoliation is performed to lift dull surface build-up. Where suitable, selected surface congestion may be carefully addressed before a targeted mask or treatment product is applied.

Calm, Hydrate & Protect

The treatment is completed with calming and hydrating products selected for your skin. You will receive personalised aftercare and guidance on any recommended home routine or future appointments.

After your appointment

Results & Recovery

Immediately After Treatment

The back may feel cleaner, smoother and more hydrated immediately after treatment. Temporary pinkness, warmth or localised tenderness may occur, particularly where exfoliation or extractions have been performed.

During the Following Days

Mild sensitivity, dryness or small temporary blemishes may develop as the skin settles. Avoid introducing multiple new products or additional exfoliation during this period.

Visible Improvements

The skin may appear smoother, fresher and more refined, with mild congestion and surface build-up looking reduced. Post-blemish marks and recurring breakouts require gradual, consistent care rather than a single appointment.

Ongoing Skin Plan

Some clients choose a Bacial before an event or as an occasional refresh, while others may benefit from a personalised course and suitable home care. Persistent, painful or scarring acne should be assessed medically.

Supporting your skin

Post-Treatment Care

Keep the Area Clean and Gentle

Use a mild body cleanser and only the products recommended for you. Avoid harsh soaps, abrasive scrubs, rough cloths and cleansing brushes while the skin is settling.

Avoid Excess Heat and Sweat

For the advised period, avoid intense exercise, saunas, steam rooms, very hot showers and activities that cause heavy sweating across the treated area.

Wear Loose, Clean Clothing

Choose clean, breathable clothing that does not rub tightly against the back. Avoid friction from tight straps, backpacks and restrictive sportswear while the skin feels sensitive.

Pause Active Products and Exfoliation

Do not immediately restart retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, exfoliating acids, physical scrubs or other strong active body products unless you have been advised that it is appropriate.

Do Not Pick or Squeeze

Avoid touching, picking or squeezing blemishes and allow any temporary redness or dryness to settle naturally. Picking can increase inflammation and the risk of lasting marks or scarring.

Protect Exposed Skin and Follow Your Plan

Apply suitable broad-spectrum sun protection when the back will be exposed and follow your personalised aftercare. Contact HEXIE Beauty if you experience unexpected pain, blistering, marked swelling or worsening irritation.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ's

What is a Bacial?

A Bacial is a professional facial treatment adapted for the skin across the back. It usually combines cleansing, exfoliation, targeted decongesting care, a mask and hydration to improve the appearance and feel of hard-to-reach skin.

What does a Bacial include?

Your treatment begins with consultation and assessment before the back is cleansed and exfoliated. Suitable surface congestion may be addressed where appropriate, followed by a targeted mask and calming or hydrating finishing products.

Can a Bacial help with back acne?

A Bacial may help improve the appearance of mild congestion, blackheads and blemish-prone skin by supporting gentle cleansing and exfoliation. It is not a medical treatment or cure for acne. Moderate, severe, painful or scarring acne should be assessed by a GP or dermatologist.

Are extractions included in a Bacial?

Suitable surface congestion may be carefully addressed following assessment. Deep, painful, inflamed or cystic blemishes will not be extracted, and the treatment will be adapted where attempting extraction could cause unnecessary trauma.

Does a Bacial hurt?

Most of the treatment should feel comfortable and relaxing. Exfoliation may feel slightly textured, and suitable extractions can cause brief localised discomfort. Pressure and treatment intensity are adjusted according to your skin and comfort.

How much downtime should I expect?

Most clients experience little to no formal downtime. Temporary redness, warmth, tenderness, dryness or sensitivity may occur, particularly where congestion has been addressed.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Avoid excessive sun exposure, scratching, picking, waxing and strong exfoliation before your appointment. Please disclose all medication, prescription acne treatments, active body products, allergies, recent procedures and any change in your skin or health.

How many Bacial treatments will I need?

This depends on your skin condition, concerns and goals. A single treatment may provide a surface refresh, while recurring congestion, rough texture or post-blemish marks may benefit from a personalised course and suitable home care.

Can a Bacial improve back acne scars and marks?

A Bacial may help improve the appearance of superficial post-blemish marks and uneven texture over time, but it will not remove deep, pitted or raised scars. Established scarring may require assessment and a different treatment approach.

When should I seek medical advice instead of booking a Bacial?

Seek advice from a GP or dermatologist if you have widespread inflamed acne, painful nodules or cysts, significant scarring, signs of infection or breakouts that have not responded to appropriate pharmacy treatment. Unusual, persistent or itchy acne-like bumps may also require diagnosis before cosmetic treatment.
