About the treatment

Understanding Skin Peel

What Is a Skin Peel?

Skin Peel at HEXIE Beauty is a professional exfoliating treatment using the CLINICCARE GLOW, PURE and REFRESH peel range. Each formulation is designed for different concerns, allowing the treatment to be selected according to your skin condition, goals and tolerance.

How Does It Work?

After the skin is cleansed and prepared, the selected peel is applied in a controlled way to loosen surface build-up and support a fresher, smoother-looking complexion. The formulation, blend, number of layers and contact time are adjusted according to your assessment and the relevant treatment protocol.

Treatment benefits

Skin Peel

Brightens dull-looking skin

Helps remove surface build-up that can leave the complexion looking tired and lacklustre.

Refines uneven skin texture

Helps smooth rough-feeling areas and improve the overall appearance of the skin’s surface.

Supports clearer-looking skin

A carefully selected peel can help reduce the visible appearance of congestion and blemish-prone skin.

Improves the appearance of post-blemish marks

Supports a brighter and more even-looking complexion over a personalised treatment course.

Minimises the appearance of enlarged pores

Helps clear surface build-up and refine the visible appearance of pores.

Softens fine lines and refreshes the complexion

Controlled exfoliation can leave the skin looking smoother, fresher and more refined.

Personalised and considered

Suitability & Safety

Not all conditions that may affect treatment suitability are listed here. Your safety, skin health and long-term results will always come first.

Treatment may need to be adapted, postponed or declined if you have:

Active skin conditions or infection

Treatment may need to be postponed if there are active cold sores, open wounds, sunburn, infection, significant inflammation or a flare of eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis in the treatment area.

Compromised or sensitised skin

A peel may not be appropriate where the skin barrier is damaged, severely dry, recently irritated or unable to tolerate controlled exfoliation safely.

Retinoids, medication and active skincare

Recent isotretinoin use, prescription retinoids, certain antibiotics, photosensitising medication and strong topical products must be disclosed before treatment.

Recent treatments or hair removal

Recent waxing, threading, laser treatment, microneedling, injectables, surgery or another peel may require the appointment to be delayed.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding or known allergies

Some peel ingredients or treatment protocols may not be considered appropriate. All known allergies, previous reactions and pregnancy or breastfeeding status must be disclosed.

Healing, pigmentation and aftercare considerations

A history of poor wound healing, abnormal scarring, significant pigment changes, relevant medical conditions or an inability to follow aftercare may affect suitability.

Your appointment

What to Expect

Consultation & Peel Selection

Your skin concerns, current routine, medical history, medications, recent treatments and previous reactions are reviewed. The most appropriate CLINICCARE peel and treatment approach are selected following assessment.

Cleanse & Prepare

The skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepared to remove makeup, surface oils and residue. Sensitive areas may be protected before the peel is applied.

Controlled Peel Application

The selected peel is applied carefully and monitored throughout. The formulation, blend, number of layers and contact time are adjusted according to your skin and the treatment protocol.

Calm, Protect & Plan

The peel is removed or neutralised as required, followed by calming skincare, hydration and sun protection. You will receive personalised aftercare and guidance on any recommended treatment course.

After your appointment

Results & Recovery

Immediately After Treatment

The skin may appear pink and feel warm, tight or sensitive immediately after treatment. The response will depend on the peel selected, treatment intensity and your individual tolerance.

During the Following Days

Temporary dryness, sensitivity or light flaking may develop as the skin settles. Some peels cause little or no visible peeling, and the response can vary between appointments.

Visible Improvements

Once the skin has settled, the complexion may appear smoother, brighter and more even. Improvements develop gradually and vary according to the concern being addressed and the peel selected.

Recommended Course & Maintenance

Some clients choose an occasional peel, while others may be advised to follow a personalised course. Treatment spacing and maintenance are based on your skin response, goals and the selected peel protocol.

Supporting your skin

Post-Treatment Care

Keep Your Routine Gentle

Use a mild cleanser, simple moisturiser and only the products recommended for you. Avoid scrubs, cleansing brushes and exfoliating skincare during the advised recovery period.

Protect Your Skin From UV

Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, limit direct sun exposure and avoid tanning beds. Reapply sun protection when required.

Do Not Pick or Exfoliate

Allow any dryness or flaking to shed naturally. Picking, rubbing or pulling at the skin can increase irritation and the risk of unwanted marks.

Pause Active Skincare

Do not restart retinoids, exfoliating acids, benzoyl peroxide or other strong active products until the skin has settled and you have been advised that it is appropriate.

Avoid Excess Heat, Sweat & Friction

For the advised period, avoid saunas, steam rooms, very hot showers, intense exercise and anything that causes excessive heat, sweating or friction against the treated skin.

Follow Makeup & Treatment Guidance

Wait until advised before applying makeup, waxing, threading, exfoliating or booking another advanced skin treatment. Contact HEXIE Beauty if you experience unexpected pain, blistering, marked swelling or worsening irritation.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ's

What is a CLINICCARE Skin Peel?

A CLINICCARE Skin Peel is a professional exfoliating treatment selected from the GLOW, PURE or REFRESH range. Each formulation is designed for different concerns, allowing the treatment to be personalised following consultation and skin assessment.

Which CLINICCARE peel will be used?

The peel is selected according to your skin condition, concerns, current routine, treatment history and tolerance. PURE is generally selected for congestion and blemish-prone skin, GLOW for dullness and uneven tone, and REFRESH for texture, fine lines and ageing concerns.

Will my skin visibly peel?

Not necessarily. Some clients experience temporary dryness or light flaking, while others have little or no visible peeling. Your response will depend on the formulation, treatment intensity and your individual skin.

Does a skin peel hurt?

You may experience tingling, warmth or mild stinging while the peel is applied. Your skin is monitored throughout, and the application can be adjusted or stopped if the sensation is not considered appropriate.

How much downtime should I expect?

Many professional peels involve little to no social downtime. Temporary redness, tightness, sensitivity, dryness or light flaking may occur for several days depending on the peel selected and your skin response.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

You may be advised to pause retinoids, exfoliating acids or other active products and to avoid waxing, excessive sun exposure or certain professional treatments before your appointment. Please disclose all medications, recent treatments, cold-sore history and previous reactions. A patch test may be required, and you will be contacted if this is necessary.

When will I see results?

The skin may appear smoother, brighter and more refreshed once any initial sensitivity or dryness has settled. Results develop gradually and vary according to your starting point, concerns and the peel selected.

How many treatments will I need?

This depends on your skin, goals and response. A single peel may be chosen as a refreshing treatment, while concerns such as congestion, uneven texture or post-blemish marks may benefit from a personalised course.

Can I wear makeup after a skin peel?

You will be advised when it is appropriate to apply makeup based on the peel selected and how your skin responds. Applying makeup too soon may increase irritation, so personalised aftercare should always be followed.

Are skin peels suitable for all skin tones?

Many skin tones can be treated, but the formulation, treatment intensity, preparation and aftercare must be selected carefully. Consultation is essential because some clients may have a greater risk of temporary or persistent pigment changes.
